HPJ got the opportunity to engage the låhui at the annual Onipa’a event held at ‘Iolani Palace on January 17th, 2023 to remember the illegal overthrow of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1893. It was a wonderful opportunity for HPJ to have important discussions about the ongoing impacts of military occupation since 1893 and the importance and power of ongoing resistance to US occupation. We spoke with community from all over the Pae ʻĀina and most importantly, we got to speak with youth about issues such as the Shut Down Red Hill movement and share information about our upcoming Youth Liberation Camp in March.
