Between July 1 – July 10,HPJ’s Koa Futures organizers and Hui Aloha ʻĀina o Honolulu joined the Anahulu at the Koʻa occupation opposing RIMPAC and the continued lack of urgency by the US Navy to de-fuel the Red Hill Storage Facility. Over the course of 10 days demilitarization popular education and art activism workshops were almost daily with Koa Futures and Hui Aloha ‘Āina providing culturally grounded activities on the history and impact of militarization in Hawaiʻi and throughout the Pacific. These workshops were the first steps in laying the groundwork for longer term organizing and to set demands on our own terms.
