Native Hawaiians Fight US Navy for Polluting Island’s Water

On Dec 30, 2021, Hawaiian practioners with Kaʻohewai arrived before dawn at the gates of the US Navy Command to build koʻa (shrine) and hold ceremony to call for the closure of the Kapūkaki (Red Hill) Storage tanks, which leaked over 14,000 of jet fuel into the fresh water supply, impacting 93, 000 people and forcing the closure of two well shafts permanently.
